dinner was pizza...had some tomatoes and pepperoni left over....was quite good.

When they start talking about other games I get lost as well---I dont own anything other than a computer, and on it I have guildwars, spore and alien crossfire...I own no other gaming type things (unless you count board games---in which case...mayfair just came out with a new train game---martian rails...cant wait to play it, also got china rails, somehow I missed when it came out in 2007

There is only one board game that is worth your time... and that is monopoly. Yep don't waste time on any other game. Do I have to say something off-topic now? Cows go moo?

Monopoly might take forever to finish but it is so much fun. Went home for the weekend and now I am back at my college dorm! Yay for fast internet again.

that is a kiddie game, I am talking about board games like risk, titan, civilization (not the computer one

), games made by avalon hill (rip).
Games that required hours of play (really pwnd monopoly can be played from start to finish in under an hour even with 4 players), some required hours of set up time, like Magic Realm, ah that was a good game.
I was in a gaming group in college and afterwards when my hubby was going to grad school----we even had a few gaming conventions (not as big as GenCon, but for where we were we had quite a large turn out and our gaming club did quite well then).
I remember all day sessions of civ...playing the train game until all the money was gone....setting up Magic Realm on the back of a huge stop sign (which we stuffed under my boyfriends-roommates bed) and playing it for almost a month (yeah that would have been about what 5 turns or so). Feudal, Titan (loved that one too). history of the world, Dune, Axis & Allies, Cosmic encounters, that was a fun game, Steve Jackson games like Illuminati, Carwars, Ogre....
Our club met every Friday night at a friends trailer home park (they lived there and could rent out the club house to us)....we would play until the weeee hours of the morning (or until some of us had to go to work---this was not a group of high school or even college aged kids---we had one of those as well at the local college that my husband ran on Saturday afternoons).

ah the good ole days of role playing games and board games are past....our last convention we held ('95) was when the dumb card games like magic were in their heyday and killing off the others....during our first con D&D had 3 full days of events....during the last only 1.....I guess now I would say that computer games took over where boards games once held territory (see gw and wow)....

oh well, it was a good time. Miss it.

I haven't touched GW much over the past few months either. Have more fun playing XBox games and hanging out with friends than playing GW.

Risk, that is a fun game. Though I have never once played a game of monopoly in under an hour. But Risk, I used to sit and play Risk for hours with friends or cousins. That is a fun game.

what exactly are you doing in monopoly that could possible take that long???? I would assume that you would know the rules....all you do is roll dice, move ....even with a bunch of grade school kids it shouldnt take more than 2 hours tops...

I speak of hard core board gamers....the ones who own warhammer miniatures, who know Avalon hill games (and were truly sad when they went under), people who know the rules of axis and allies by heart .....people who have more dice than underwear! People who spent a good portion of their high school (and college) friday nights with a bunch of people rolling dice!

Yes I was one of those---still have lots of my old board games (and still play some of them)....miss my gaming group....

ah oh well, time to move onto
